Each session is a customized experience. The process starts with an informational consultation to understand your goals and to start the process of creating custom art work based on your desires and goals.
This process includes a questionnaire that allows me to learn as much about you as I can that can help me create images that speak to you and capture the soul of the subject. The creative control lies within me, but it is directly derived from our conversations. I want the portraits to capture you and who you feel you are, but are in my fine art style.
A SESSION THE CAPTURES CONNECTION
My goal is to capture intimate moments. The touch of a mother and child. The love of a man and woman. The love you have for the important people you have chosen to photograph and memorialize for a lifetime. The goal is authentic connection between the subjects.
THE FOCUS OF A PORTRAIT
Posing and expression are paramount in capturing an individual's soul. You will notice that when you look into the eyes of a child you see so much more than what is on the surface. I focus on capturing the child, the eyes and the soul of the subject. In my pursuit of a portrait I look for pensive moments, a simple look that defines the subject. I want nothing more than to create these beautiful, emotive and authentic portraits for you.
I know that many believe they are not photogenic or do not do well in front of the camera. I will guide you through the process. Many have told me it feels uncomfortable or they don't know what they are doing. I am committed to creating beautiful portraits with you.
PLANNING WITH THE END IN MIND
I always ask how you want to use the portraits. I do this so I can understand what I need to create. It is always easier to create based on the goal in mind.
The planning of the photo session is critical. When you plan for the session it allows you to create a sense of calm on the session day. Planning allows for more enjoyment during the session. A critical component of the planning of a portrait session is the clothing. Clothing conveys so much about the subject, the mood and tone. While I believe the portrait is of the individual, keeping that focus and having it "makes sense" is based on planning for the entire image. I will guide you through the process of picking the outfits and will offer suggestions on where to purchase outfits specific to the look you are wishing to achieve. You may also borrow items from my closet.
